Celebrating International Women's Day at The Gallery

Ada "Coley" Coleman

Join us from March 6th to March 9th as we celebrate International Women's Day on March 8th with a weekend of special cocktails crafted by women or with significant ties to the influence of women in the world of mixology.

International Women’s Day is a time to recognize and honor the achievements of women in all fields, and we are proud to highlight the contributions women have made to the cocktail industry. Each of the following cocktails represents the spirit of innovation, creativity, and resilience that women bring to the bar.

Cocktail Specials for the weekend

Gin Basil Smash
This bright, refreshing cocktail was inspired by the legendary Audrey Saunders, one of the most influential women in the modern cocktail movement. With gin, fresh basil, lemon juice, and simple syrup, it’s a testament to the creativity women have brought to the craft. Saunders’ work in the bar industry helped pave the way for countless women behind the bar today.

Pegu Club
Named after the famous Pegu Club in Burma, this cocktail was revived by Audrey Saunders when she opened her renowned New York bar, also named Pegu Club. Her role as a trailblazing female bartender and bar owner makes this cocktail a fitting tribute. It combines gin, orange curaçao, lime juice, and bitters for a refreshing drink with a strong history.

The Hanky Panky
Created by Ada "Coley" Coleman, one of the most iconic female bartenders in history, the Hanky Panky was her signature drink while she worked at the Savoy Hotel’s American Bar. A mix of gin, sweet vermouth, and a splash of Fernet Branca, this cocktail is an ode to Coleman’s trailblazing legacy in a male-dominated industry.

Cosmopolitan
Originally created by Cheryl Cook, the Cosmopolitan became a symbol of modern femininity and empowerment in the 1990s, thanks to its association with the TV show Sex and the City. A blend of vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, and lime juice, it’s a perfect example of how women have shaped cocktail culture both behind the bar and beyond.

Aviation
The Aviation, a mix of gin, crème de violette, maraschino liqueur, and lemon juice, was brought back to the modern cocktail scene largely due to the efforts of women bartenders during the craft cocktail renaissance. Its delicate balance of flavors represents the precision and creativity that women have long contributed to the cocktail industry.

Celebrate with us and raise a glass to the remarkable women who have shaped the world of cocktails. Each drink tells a story of empowerment, creativity, and breaking boundaries—just like the women we honor on International Women’s Day.
